Automatic Clothesline Retrieval System - NDKC Kidapawan City
It is a microcontroller-based project that uses PIC16F690 which is a 20-pin flash-based and an 8-bit CMOS microcontroller with nano-watt technology. The project prototype has analog inputs namely rain sensor and light sensor that are both activated during automatic mode. Push button switches for retrieval and exposure are activated during manual mode. It has also limit switches with shared input to cause the motor to stop after retrieving or exposing hanged clothes and toggle switch input that serves as a selector for manual or automatic mode. Analog signals are receive by the rain and light sensor and are converted to digital signals by the microcontroller during automatic mode while digital signals are receive by the microcontroller during manual mode. The rain sensor will detect rain droplets that will give signal to the microcontroller to retrieve the laundry and expose the laundry back as the rain stops while the light detector will also give the signal to the microcontroller to retrieve the laundry at night and expose the laundry at day. The manual mode will give the option to expose or retrieve the laundry manually. The output comprises with a low power-high torque dc motor which is driven by a motor driver. The motor driver is responsible for the forward and reverse rotation of the motor. The motor needs to be supplied with 12-volts direct current while the microcontroller, the rain sensor, light sensor, limit switches and selector require 5-volts direct current in their operation. A 12-volt 3.9-amp rechargeable sealed lead-acid battery is used as power supply in this prototype together with 7805 voltage regulator for a clean 5-volts output to be used by the microcontroller, all inputs and LCD display.
